59th IUVSTA Workshop
Surface Chemical Analysis - Improving data interpretation by multivariate & informatics techniques
11-16 April 2010
Salybia Nature Resort, Trinidad & Tobago

Data interpretation is a major challenge in modern surface chemical analysis. High-throughput instruments, high-resolution imaging and depth profiling produce tremendously large and complex data that necessitates novel, robust analysis methods to fully exploit the wealth of information available.
This workshop will focus on advanced data interpretation for surface chemical analysis using multivariate and information theory based techniques. With a plethora of methods available to analysts, the workshop will explore the relative merits of each method, covering fundamental aspects e.g. data preprocessing, to practical applications in hyperspectral image analysis, spectrum and profile interpretation.
The workshop will provide a unique forum to bring together international communities of researchers and analysts from surface chemical analysis, spectroscopic techniques, analytical chemistry and chemometrics, for stimulating scientific debate about latest advances and best practice for this exciting emerging field.
